About Fare/Share
Fare/Share is an iPhone app that enables Londoners to share taxis and minicabs while they’re out and about. It features one-click share requests (for now or in the future); identification by photo or clothes, accessories etc; and a simple but useful feedback/rating system.
The History of Fare/Share – New York City
Like many of the best ideas, Fare/Share was born of personal need, when its founder, Peter Hanna, wanted to share a cab home from a party on New York’s Upper West Side one night. Soon, Peter had teamed up with a couple of friends – commuter transport junkie, Jeff and statistics guru, Aaron – and Fare/Share was born. The History of Fare/Share – London
Not long after Fare/Share had been born in the USA, Jonny Goldstone and Tom Pakenham – the ex-City lawyers turned entrepreneurs behind London’s iconic greentomatocars – were looking to resolve exactly the same issue on this side of The Pond. Completely independently, they too came up with the “fareshare” name – and while they were checking if anyone else was using it, they soon came across Fare/Share NYC.
Realising they had stumbled upon their entrepreneurial doppelgangers and never ones for “reinventing the wheel”, they asked Peter, Jeff and Aaron if they could bring the concept to London. A beautiful friendship had begun and the rest, as they say, remains to be seen!
About greentomatocars
In 2006, greentomatocars launched London’s first exclusively green minicab business. Since then, thousands of environmentally friendly cars have been brought into the industry to replace conventional gas guzzlers. It seems like the “private hire” industry – or at least a sizeable chunk of it – is cleaning up its act.
Five years later, we’re delighted to bring you Fare/Share – another simple innovation aimed at reducing pollution and saving people money in the process.
Although greentomatocars is behind Fare/Share, it’s entirely up to you which taxi or private hire company you use – so much so, it even gives you a list of local cab companies to call if you can’t hail a Black Cab. Of course, if you do book with greentomatocars, we will be delighted to pick you up and help you enjoy your journey even more!
